Ventura County Contractors Association

• – ALL CONTRACTORS should regard themselves as the highly trusted Agents of the Owner, and should not violate such trust.
• – The General Contractor should keep THE BID of a Sub-Contractor to a General Contractor confidential.
• – A GENERAL CONTRACTOR should not solicit further bids from Sub-Contractors in a specific craft, after having received and opened bids in such a craft.
• – A SUB-CONTRACTOR should not lower his bid to a General Contractor after it has been submitted, if the General Contractor is receiving other bids in such craft.
• – BIDDERS (General and Subs) should not accept or seek information on competitor bids, but should base their bids solely upon their own figures.
• – ANY CONTRACTOR who has used another contractors figure, or the figure of a Material Dealer, in securing a job, should immediately post the name of such other Contractor or Supplier on the Jobsite. Any SubContractor or Material Dealer who shall solicit work already posted shall be considered unethical.
• – AFTER A JOB has been formally bid, no contractor shall attempt direct negotiation with the Owner or shall offer to rebid or discount, unless the job shall first be formally re-advertised and rebid.
• – A CONTRACTOR should not make false or misleading adverse statements concerning his competitors. He may urge his prospective client to make a thorough investigation of competitors and make fair comparisons of the superiority of his own work but he should not unfairly prejudice the customer before the investigation has been made.
• – NO CONTRACTOR should take advantage of an obvious error in plans and specifications, or other documents that will react unfairly to his advantage and to the detriment of another.
• – EACH BUSINESS TRANSACTION should be based upon that which is unquestionably morally right, rather than that which may be legally enforceable.
• – BIDDING FOR WORK without figuring overhead and a reasonable profit tends to bankrupt the entire industry and cannot be approved.
• – BIDDING FOR WORK below a fair cost and profit with the expectation of making up the profit on extras or change orders can not be condoned under any circumstances.

Membership Aggreement

Ventura County Contractors Association

I/We hereby apply for membership with the Ventura County Contractors Association. If accepted as a member, I/we agree to abide by the provisions set forth in the Articles of Incorporation, the Code of Ethics, and the By-laws of the Association. I/we also agree to any subsequent rules, regulations and policies that might be adopted by the Board of Directors.

If accepted, I/we will be eligible to receive all services and benefits offered by the Association. I/we understand and agree that this application, if approved, will be for an ongoing annual membership, which will automatically renew each year for $400 on the anniversary of my application being accepted. In the event that membership with the associaation no longer serves the needs of my/our business interest, I/we agree to formally cancel the subscription in writing, 30-days prior to the membership annual renewal date. Please note that Membership Dues are non-refundable.

I/we understand that simply not paying the renewal fee is not accepted as “cancelling” the membership. I/we understand and agree that cancellation of my membership after my renewal date does not relieve me of my obligation of that periods renewal fee, and agree to fulfil all obligations to the Association, including the payment of all sums due or owing.
